THE SPITFIRE COLLECTION
The Supermarine Spitfire a single seat fighter aircraft was one of the most famous aircraft ever built,
acheiving legendary status during the Battle of Britain. It was designed by R.J. Mitchell and its maiden flight
was on March 5th 1936. The last operational flight of an RAF Spitfire was on April 1st 1954 from Singapore.
Having aquired some original wooden propeller blades from a World War 11 Spitfire I had the idea of producing
a pen from the material. It has proved to be incredibly stable and a beautiful material to work.
This has opened up a complete new set of possibilties for a whole range of designs and an example of re cycling
a material that would otherwise be scrapped.
